Da die alkalische Hydrolyse (AH) jedoch erst seit kurzem kommerziell f\u00fcr Haustiere erh\u00e4ltlich ist, ist diese Alternative zur Kremierung Tierbesitzern m\u00f6glicherweise unbekannt. Dieser Artikel soll Teammitgliedern in Tierarztpraxen ausreichende Hintergrundinformationen liefern, um mit trauernden Kunden selbstbewusst \u00fcber die AH-Alternative sprechen zu k\u00f6nnen.<\/p><h4>Was ist das?<\/h4><p>Aquamation ist einer von mehreren Markennamen f\u00fcr den wissenschaftlichen Prozess, der als alkalische Hydrolyse bekannt ist. Bei der Behandlung von Tierkadavern beschleunigt die AH die nat\u00fcrliche K\u00f6rperzersetzung durch eine Kombination aus sanftem Wasserfluss, Temperatur und Alkalit\u00e4t.<\/p><p>Der Prozess reduziert den K\u00f6rper auf seine grundlegenden Bausteine (Aminos\u00e4uren, kleine Peptide, Zucker und Salze), die in Wasser gel\u00f6st sind. Der einzige feste R\u00fcckstand ist die mineralische Asche der Knochen. Der AH-Prozess ahmt den Gewebeabbau nach, der nat\u00fcrlich auftritt, wenn K\u00f6rper in der Erde vergraben und den Einfl\u00fcssen von Insekten und Bodenbakterien ausgesetzt sind. Neben der Behandlung von Tierkadavern gibt es weitere potenzielle Anwendungen f\u00fcr AH, wie die Entsorgung von Gewebe aus Forschungs- und Diagnoselaboren sowie die Behandlung von kontaminierten Kadavern gro\u00dfer Tiere oder Gefl\u00fcgel, wenn hoche infekti\u00f6se Krankheitserreger entweder vermutet oder best\u00e4tigt werden.<\/p><h4>Geschichte<\/h4><p>Das erste US-Patent f\u00fcr das AH-Verfahren wurde 1888 erteilt, aber das Patent f\u00fcr die ersten kommerziellen \u201cGewebsaufschlussapparate\u201d wurde erst 1994 erteilt. Die ersten Ger\u00e4te wurden in medizinischen Hochschulen und Forschungseinrichtungen, einschlie\u00dflich veterin\u00e4rmedizinischer Diagnostiklabore, installiert. Da das AH-Verfahren die Infektiosit\u00e4t von viralen und bakteriellen Einheiten in Gewebe zerst\u00f6rt, wurden Auflaufapparate schnell in einer Vielzahl von Forschungs- und medizinischen Zentren in den Vereinigten Staaten, Japan, Schottland, Irland, Europa und Kanada installiert und genutzt. Bis 2003 waren weltweit insgesamt 29 solcher Ger\u00e4te installiert und voll funktionsf\u00e4hig. Bis 2006 waren allein in den Vereinigten Staaten mehr als 60 Auflaufapparate in verschiedenen veterin\u00e4rmedizinischen Diagnostiklaboren installiert worden, so Joseph Wilson, CEO von Bio-Response Solutions.<\/p><p>Im Jahr 2005 installierte die Mayo Clinic das erste Ein-K\u00f6rper-System f\u00fcr Humanbestattungen, das in den kommerziellen Betrieb ging. Im Jahr 2008 wurde die erste Einheit f\u00fcr die Ein\u00e4scherung von Haustieren am Lebensende in einem Tierkrematorium in Ohio installiert.<\/p><p>Als Ergebnis des Erfolgs der Mayo Clinic-Operation nahmen Personen aus der Bestattungsbranche Notiz, und im Jahr 2010 installierte ein Bestattungsunternehmen in Columbus, Ohio, die erste AH-Gewerbeeinheit f\u00fcr Bestattungszwecke.
